Celebration of LIFE

In life, we have numerous occasions that we termed as milestones. What makes them deep-coloured is when we have the chance to celebrate them with good friends and special people in our life. We have gatherings such as work anniversary, golden wedding anniversary, retirement, birth of a new baby, birthdays etc..

As I celebrate one highlight of my life, my birthday, I am grateful to all people who have come and made it colourful. At the outset, I am thankful to God for the gift of life that He has entrusted to me. And although I know that it is but a borrowed one and that sooner or later, I am going to return it to its Creator, I am but extremely joyful that I embrace this life. Consequently, I recognise that I have a great responsibility to take care of it thus allowing it to grow into the kind of life that will make its owner happy. On the other hand, knowing that I have both yin and yang of this life (light and dark shadows), I also have the accountability to grow into a more mature person and to share this life with others.

I am also thankful to God for showering my life with wonderful people, first and foremost, my two treasured gifts- my wife Yanyan and our beloved kid, Kurt Kristoff. Being light bringers, they both radiate a constant positive energy to me to get up and face squarely whatever is at stake on every single day. As a social being, I am also indebted to other people who have  shared both my pains and joys. People come and go in our life and I am forever thankful to those who have helped me achieve the person that I am  now and would still be willing to journey with me to the rest of my life.

No matter how simple or challenging this life journey could be but with the presence of all these significant others in my life, I know that I could acquire the positive energy each day to continue with this journey.

Cherished Moments With Friends

Last Friday, October 2, we did our overnight camping in Venus Bay. All in all, we were 16 people in our group. Indeed we had a great time exploring some interesting places in Victoria. From home, me, my wife Yanyan and friend, Rod, jumped off and hit the road at 5 a.m. We proceeded to pick up two more friends at Harvey's place.

After settling down in each of our cars, we progressed  to our meet up point in one of the petrol stations in Chadstone. From there, we departed to our destination, Venus Bay Park, with a side trip to Wilson's Promontory. Our next stopover was Tidal River. " It is a perennial river of the West Gippsland catchment, located in the Wilson's Promontory region of Victoria."- source- Wikipedia- the free encyclopedia.

During this stop off, we spotted some kangaroos a few meters away from us. They did not mind us at all and some of us were able to take photos of them. After a few minutes, we continued with our trip and next place we visited was Wilson's Promontory itself. We took our lunch near the visitor centre. Before lunch, we trekked first one of the rivers of Wilson's Prom. Everybody in our group enjoyed the amazing wonder of nature.....around us was a picture of life so vivid and inviting. We took photos again to preserve memories of our visit. Then we also visited the famous Squeaky Beach and had some fun.

After the wonderful lunch, we hit the road again and directed to our camping site at Venus Bay Caravan Park. We set up our tents and subsequently,  prepared dinner then had some fun taking photos as well as exchanging pleasantries. The next day, we went to Venus Bay beach and did some fishing. Efren, our best catcher of the day, luckily caught some fish and we joyfully brought them back together with a couple of crabs to our campsite. Harvey and Den, our two chefs of the trip, made some wonderful recipe out of their catch.

Hence, we treasured our camping experience and everybody believes that it is a sort of experience worth doing the next time around. Time such as this one allows us to enjoy each other's company and appreciate the beauty of nature.
